Thus far, our company has done business with the aim of creating a new form of medical treatment - “regenerative medicine” - that can rank along with pharmaceuticals and medical devices. In recent years, this regenerative medicine has repeatedly evolved in various forms, and it has become a concept that encompasses new treatment modalities that differ from those of conventional pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Moreover, all of these have been embraced with high expectations as medical innovations.

Living life in robust good health is a major goal that is pursued by all people. Now, more than ever, people are making efforts to realize this goal. At the same time, the role of corporations is changing. Amidst loud calls for university-business collaboration, professors and researchers in the medical field are getting involved in corporate management, even here in Japan. We are living in an age in which the creation of new medical treatments seeks to promote the happiness - not only of the patients we now see before us - but also those who will come in the future. We would like to anticipate these changes in medical care while steadily promoting the social implementation of new medical treatments based on the experience we have cultivated thus far.

At the same time, we are now confronting more problems, such as various natural disasters and environmental problems caused by the large-scale climate change in recent years, as well as challenges in securing adequate food supplies and energy. Various types of biotechnologies have recently been shown to be of assistance in solving these issues. While aiming to realize new medical treatments through a keen focus on one type of biotechnology known as regenerative medicine, our company is earnestly striving to fulfill all of its social responsibilities in full recognition of the significance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Finding rational solutions for “improving quality of life (QOL) through the realization of new medical fields” and the “building of a sustainable society” will entail giving deep thought to the essence of these challenges in all of our actions.* In addition, we will need to emphasize the balance between consistency and flexibility* in accordance with our Corporate Philosophy of “being a company that continues to grow and evolve as long as the human race exists”.
As we go about our daily business, we will continue to pursue the “growth” and “realization of a sustainable society” that form the foundation of our corporate ideology.
